The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for the region until midnight. We're only expecting about a half inch or so of snow this afternoon, but with winds 35-45 mph and gusts to 55 mph, we are expecting near white out conditions in open areas. As of 2pm, visibility is down to a block or two even inside city limits around Sioux Falls. As a result, no travel is advised in eastern South Dakota, southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa.

Temperatures will continue to drop this afternoon and through the night, so a Wind Chill Advisory is in effect from 3am to noon Friday. Temperatures will drop to -6 tonight with wind chills around -20. We're expecting sun on Friday, but windy and a high in the single digits will still give us wind chills around -25.

I try to just look at it as we are one day closer to spring.
