OK, from time to time I have to, uh, well...kind of take back a bit of the things I said. Gulp.

Not long ago i wrote on these electronic pages about how the 'modern' country stars wouldn't put out any good country christian gospel music. I lamented about how the great country artists of the past, from Hank to Lefty, Buck to Merle, Willie to Loretta, how they'd all be sure to record some great country/gospel music. And how these newer artists wouldn't do it because if just wasn't lucrative enough, how they were so darn greedy, how we lost a great part of our country music history.

Shame on these modern artists!

Except....shame on me.

The following came across my desk.

Blake Shelton is hitting Christian radio this week his brand-new single "Savior's Shadow." The song is the latest peek at Shelton's forthcoming album, If I'm Honest, and is one of the most personal songs he's ever recorded. Blake teamed up with Nashville songwriters Jessi Alexander and Jon Randall to pen this tune after its inspiration came to him in a dream. Blake says, "At a very dark time in my life last year I dreamed the first verse of this song. I woke up and immediately wrote it down. Now, looking back, I know it was God's way of telling me that he's here and things are gonna be OK."

So shut up McDaniel, you crotchety old dog, and listen below to a great song with a great message from a great singer.
