The Mayor of Aberdeen Travis Schaunaman confirmed in a Facebook post that there was an emu named Kevin on the loose around town. Trevin Westby of Aberdeen caught the moment on camera. You have to watch the video to see this big bird just casually roaming Aberdeen! This is unbelievable!

Kevin instantly brought so much joy to Aberdeen!

Lemu Emu!!! But where is Doug?!

I love how it's just running down the correct side of the street, following all traffic rules

Run Forrest Run!!

Officials say Kevin was seen in the south part of town. Local Aberdeen resident Katie Darling was one of the lucky people to witness the wild emu. Kevin even gave Katie's kids a quick hello over a fence!

Our kids were out in the backyard playing and all of a sudden the emu peeked his head up over the fence We ended up just calling a non-emergent police officer and he knew where the little guy came from. Ours and the neighborhood kids all tried to keep him safe on our street while we waited for the owner to come pick him up. (I guess there is a little hobby farm just down the street on the south side of Aberdeen). It was a memorable night for sure!

Mayor Travis Schaunaman has confirmed Kevin has been found and is now at home with his owner Kaleb Weis, who happens to be running for political office. I'm sure Kevin is tired from all his adventures. Thanks to Mayor Travis, Trevin Westby, and Katie Darling for giving us pictures and fun stories to share!

Just a normal day in South Dakota, right?

The South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks Department is the place to go for info about hunting licenses and specific rules and regulations for hunting in South Dakota.

Hunting most game in South Dakota is restricted to specific hunting seasons. Like deer and pheasant seasons in the fall.

But there are also animals you can hunt year-round in South Dakota.

There are still some rules to follow, like where exactly you can hunt. South Dakota has millions of acres of public and private land to hunt on. And you'll still need a hunting license.

So, always check with the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks Department for the latest information and regulations.
