Carrie Underwood: Expect ‘Great Surprises’ During Nashville Predators 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs Run
The Nashville Predators pulled out all the stops during the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs, inviting numerous big-name country stars to perform the National Anthem prior to their home games ... but according to Carrie Underwood, the team's still got a few tricks up their sleeves. The country superstar -- who is married to Predators player Mike Fisher -- says fans can expect "great surprises" during the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs as well.
Underwood's not the only one promising something big, either: Predators President and CEO Sean Henry tells the Tennessean that the team has something planned for the first round of playoffs that "has never been done before for a playoff game.”
“We're investing a lot of resources to pull off something really special," Henry adds -- though he isn't giving any more hints.
In 2017, Underwood began the Nashville Predators tradition of bringing country stars out to sing the National Anthem before home games. Luke Bryan, Little Big Town, Trisha Yearwood and many more also got in on the fun throughout the Preds' Stanley Cup run.
“Last year, I was so proud to be the captain’s wife and loved being able to contribute to the excitement of the playoffs by coming out to perform the Anthem at the first game,” Underwood tells the Tennessean. “I had so much fun and wanted to continue to support the team by asking a few of my friends to get in on the action. Like all of the Preds fans, I’m thrilled that Mike is back on the ice, and I love that we are able to bring the music and hockey worlds together this way.”
The Nashville Predators have clinched their Stanley Cup Playoffs spot for 2018 and could win the NHL Central Division. The NHL 2017-2018 season will officially end on Sunday (April 8), and playoffs will begin on April 11; the Preds' first-round game schedule and opponent have yet to be determined.
