If you are looking to hunt elk in South Dakota this year time is running out to apply.

Online applications for Black Hills, Prairie, and Archer Elk seasons must be submitted by 8:00 AM on May 24, 2017.

Remember that is 8:00 AM in the morning of May 24.

I missed out on a first draw West River deer tag last year because I forgot about the morning deadline.

Paper applications must be postmarked by May 19 and must contain an application fee of $10.

If you draw a tag they do cost significantly more than deer tags. Any Elk tags are $185, including the application fee. Antlerless Elk tags are $127.
