MOUNT VERNON, S.D. (AP) — The wife of a Davison County sheriff's deputy was injured in an incident involving his gun.

Attorney General's Office spokeswoman Sara Rabern says the woman was cleaning house Tuesday night when she moved the gun and it went off. The bullet hit the woman but she did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

The Daily Republic newspaper reports that the state Department of Criminal Investigation is looking into the case.

Rabern says the deputy was not home at the time of the incident. She did not name him, citing the ongoing investigation.
