Vikings Receiver Charles Johnson and 300 Others Attend Girl’s Birthday Party After Classmates Deny Invitations

When Mackenzie Moretter sent out invitations for her birthday party to her classmates and received no responses, the Minneapolis community gave her a birthday celebration to remember.

According to USA Today, Moretter was diagnosed with Sotos Syndrome at the age of one. The condition has made Moretter grow faster than other kids, sadly causing a divide between her and her classmates. When none of her classmates accepted her birthday party invitation, Moretter's mother took to Facebook to see if her friends could put something together.

The response went around the Minneapolis area and over 300 people attended Mackenzie's birthday party. Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Charles Johnson attended the party and brought his family along.

In a time in which the Vikings are surrounded by the dark cloud of the Adrian Peterson situation, it is nice to see a guy like Johnson go out of his way to make Mackenzie's 10th birthday even more special. Out of the kindness of his heart he brought his family out to give Mackenzie the birthday party she deserved.

The story in itself is about Mackenzie. I'm not taking anything away from that. As a sports fan, and a Vikings fan, it is refreshing to see a player like Johnson step outside to do something special.

Johnson was drafted in 2013 by the Green Bay Packers, but was picked up by Cleveland in October, 2013. Johnson never played in a game with Cleveland. Prior to the 2014 season, the Vikings signed Johnson and the receiver impressed grabbing 31 passes and adding two touchdowns.
