Reshuffling in South Dakota State Government

Some reshuffling has been announced in South Dakota State Government in Pierre.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard says Laurie Gill will be the new Commissioner of the Bureau of Human Resources. effective September 3. She succeeds Sandy Zinter, who retired earlier this year.

Gill has been Secretary of Human Services since 2011 and is also the part-time Mayor of Pierre.

In the new role, Gill will continue to lead the Governor's Employment Works Task Force, which was created to study employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Gill's appointment creates a vacancy in the position of Secretary of Human Services, and the Governor's Office says Daugaard will begin a search to fill that position.
