It's hard to pick just one South Dakota town. But according to the experts at USA Today, the South Dakota town that stands out from the rest is Mitchell, South Dakota!

Thanks to nominations and votes from readers, the writers with USA Today rank Mitchell as being the 7th best small town in this year's 10 Best Small Towns in the Midwest list.

So what makes Mitchell, South Dakota the best small town? USA Today loves the town's community spirit!

A truly eclectic attraction exists in Mitchell, South Dakota, in the form of The World's Only Corn Palace, an ornate structure that's packed full of colorful maize on display in intricate murals. Further south, visitors can learn about Mount Rushmore State history at the Dakota Discovery Museum or head north to discover the rich history of the local Indigenous communities at the Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village.

The town of Mitchell is just thrilled with this news! Having The World's Only Corn Palace is just a bonus to this wonderful town.
