Pirates Fan Uses Big Glove To Catch Foul Ball
Take that, Ben Revere! A Pittsburgh Pirates fan came to PNC Park on Monday ready to grab a souvenir. Judging by the size of his glove, he was committed to leaving the ballpark with a ball or else. Well, when Clint Barmes hit a foul popup in the fourth inning, the fan settled under it with his big glove and made the catch, as you can see in the video above.
Cardinals' outfielder Carlos Beltran might have had a shot at the catch, but he looks like he was worried about getting swallowed up by the big glove. We'd love to see all the Pirates play with gloves like that on their hands. As it turns out, Mr. Big Glove is allegedly a regular at PNC Park. He's a big fan (obvs), who constantly snares foul balls with his big glove.
While we love the idea of a grown man bringing a ridiculously big glove to a game for laughs, we hope he is not some sort of foul ball hoarder. The (unwritten) rule is simple: after you get one foul ball, small children or family members take precedence.
