We lost the greatest singer in country music history on April 6, 2016. It was Merle Haggard's 79th birthday.

In addition to a legendary country music career, the life of Merle Haggard was also something that could have come out of a Hollywood movie. In fact, a movie of his life is, as they say, in the works.

Part of that legendary life was growing up in a train boxcar. I mean literally, a train boxcar. And it was a year ago, in July of 2015, that the boxcar became part of the Kern County Museum. Merle was there, along with his sister Lillian.

Thankfully that day was captured on video, and in the video above Merle and his sister talk about those long ago days of growing up in that boxcar.
