Flags at Half-Staff to Respect Orlando Mass Shooting Victims
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Gov. Dennis Daugaard is making South Dakota residents aware of a directive from President Barack Obama to fly U.S. and state flags at half-staff to respect the victims of a nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida.
The directive calls for flags at half-staff until sunset on Thursday.
Officials and public figures across the world are expressing condemnation and shock over the mass shooting at the Pulse Orlando nightclub on Sunday. Police say a gunman wielding an assault-type rifle opened fire, killing at least 50 people and wounding dozens.
It's the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
