Three men are behind bars after Brookings Police seized 14 pounds of marijuana believed to be worth $60,000.

As part of an ongoing investigation, police last Thursday served a search warrant to a home on the 400 block of 3rd Ave. South, where they found three pounds of marijuana and $27,000 in cash.

Police arrested three people, including 30-year-old Joseph Jones of Brookings and 40-year-old Walter Gaters of Brookings. A 27-year-old female was also in the house at the time, however, charges are pending.

Further investigation led police to question 41-year-old John Seward of Aurora on Friday.

Some time after questioning Seward, police drove to his home to arrest him. On the way, police passed Seward, who then led them on a short pursuit.

After his arrest, police searched Seward's vehicle and found a duffle bag, a suitcase, 11 pounds of marijuana, meth and $2,000 cash.

Jones and Gaters are facing multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute over one pound of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and violating a drug-free zone.
