Something as simple as going to a church picnic, normally wouldn't have a great impact on the world. But one particular picnic in 1956 would have quite an effect on millions of people worldwide.

Two teenagers met for the first time at this church gathering. One was sixteen and the other was fifteen.

The older of the two was named John Lennon and the younger guy he met was Paul McCartney. That was essentially the start of the Beatles.

Paul later invited his fourteen year old friend George Harrison to meet John. The three guitarists would play rock and roll whenever they could find a drummer.

Pete Best began as the regular on drums, but was dismissed for poor playing. The replacement would go into the permanent role and his name was Ringo Starr.

The band's name, The Beatles, was actually chosen as a way to pay tribute to Buddy Holly and The Crickets.
