Connie Francis and Hank Williams, Jr. are legendary in their own right as solo artist's.
Connie was the top charting female vocalist of the late 1950's and early 1960's. But she was 'pop', not country.
Hank had already begun a phenomenal career as a boy singing his famous father's songs and then went on to what should be a Hall of Fame career. But he was 'country', not pop.
But in 1964 these two fantastic talents got together in Nashville for 3 days in May and recorded duet's of some of the most famous country music song's ever. Song's like 'Singing The Blues', 'If You've Got The Money (I've Got The Time)' and 'Walk On By' were included on the album Connie Francis and Hank Williams Jr. Sing Great Country Favorites.
And while 'Connie and Hank' may not be mentioned in the same breath as the other legendary country duo's, I think you'll agree for a brief period in time, they made great music together. Give a listen to their version of the Claude King classic 'Wolverton Mountain'.
