According to the most recent Program for International Student Assessment tests, when comparing students in 70 different countries - U-S students are in the bottom half.

The test results found 15 year olds here in the U-S are now in the bottom half of all students when it comes to math -  ranking a dismal 40th.

The organization that coordinates the testing says better performing countries tend to focus on fewer topics, but go into greater depth than the U-S.

Speculation is that funding may also be playing a role, as 31 states still spend less money per student than before the 2008 recession.
