The world was on edge on December 31, 1999.  Why?  Because at the stroke of midnight and we entered the new millennium, the lights were going to go out.

And planes, trains and automobiles would stop.  You were going to be stuck in an elevator.  There would be no heat, no air conditioning, no - nothing.

All the computers in the world, at midnight, would stop, quit, be done.  And so, consequently, would life as we know it come to a screeching, devastating halt.

It would be total chaos!  It would be the end of time!

Except of course none of that happened. But that didn't mean we weren't worried!
