The other day I wrote a story explaining a little problem that I have in my back yard. I'm no expert, but it looks like I have a pack of voles that have decided to hang out on the back corner of my lot in south east Sioux Falls.

Quite a bit has transpired since I last wrote about my problem. I thought it best to provide a little information about the little rascals I think have decided to take up camp. Here's more on the vole. According to Wikipedia,

A vole is a small rodent resembling a mouse but with a stouter body, a shorter, hairy tail, a slightly rounder head, smaller ears and eyes, and differently formed molars (high-crowned and with angular cusps instead of low-crowned and with rounded cusps). There are approximately 155 species of voles. They are sometimes known as meadow mice or field mice in North America. Vole species form the subfamilyArvicolinae with the lemmings and the muskrats.

As you can tell by the picture I took with the Samsung Galaxy S5 that I use courtesy of Sprint in Sioux Falls, they have been chewing up quite a bit of real estate.

This picture is just a sample of some of the destruction that they've done. This area was along the fence and close to where the snow had piled up in the shade for quite a while. I imagine they found a nice little salad bar of delicious grass to dine on under the snowbank as it melted.

Now, if you've ever seen the movie Caddy Shack you know how obsessed with rodents a person can get. So the other day my two sons Jake and Logan and I took off to our neighborhood ACE Store on Sycamore Avenue here in Sioux Falls. We stopped in and one of the helpful folks asked how he could help.

'Do you want to kill em? Or, scare em away.' That was one of the questions we kicked around. I opted for a product that is supposed to persuade them to take their yard eating ways to the neighbors yard. Yep. If the product works that I pushed out with a spreader works the voles will be the neighbors problem soon.

Oh, and if that doesn't work, I'll step up my efforts and put something out that will end the problem for good.

Voles, you've been warned. I'm coming after you!
