A rural Tea woman is free on her own recognizance after she was charged in the death this past May of a three-month-old baby in her day care.

Captain Paul Niedringhaus of the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office says the baby boy was found unresponsive May 9th in the day care operated by Cindy Jo Hanisch just outside of Sioux Falls.

Niedringhaus says the infant was pronounced dead that same day:

Niedringhaus says the child's death was an accident, but as the day care provider, the 41-year-old Hanisch was responsible. He says she turned herself in Friday morning at the Minnehaha County Jail and was released on a personal recognizance bond.
