South Dakota came up empty in its first Summit League game away from the DakotaDome this season, but the Coyotes still have a chance to salvage a split on this road trip if they can win in Omaha Saturday.

Thursday night against Western Illinois, USD had no answer for the Leathernecks sharp shooting, as WIU shot 62% from the floor, including 7-of-10 3-pointers and 16-of-18 from the free-throw line, falling behind by as many as 24, and losing by 18.

Saturday in Omaha, the Coyotes will be trading in their walking shoes for their track shoes as they go from a very deliberate opponent in Western Illinois to a very uptempo UNO team.

Mavericks guards CJ Carter, Justin Simmons and Marcus Tyus set the pace (31 points per game combined), with forward Mike Rostampour and center John Karhoff (15 points per game) anchoring things inside.

USD head coach Joey James knows things will look a lot different in Omaha than they did in Macomb:

Tipoff is Saturday at 1:00pm in Omaha.
