South Dakota State University Extension Seeks Seeds Donations for School Gardens

BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota State University Extension is seeking seed donations to help school and other teaching garden programs across the state.

The donated seeds are intended only for newly starting and established gardens that offer an educational program.

SDSU Extension says vegetable seeds are its highest priority, but flower seeds will also be accepted.

Extension staffers are asking that the donated seeds are packaged for 2015 or 2016 growing seasons because older seeds have reduced germination rates.

The seeds can be delivered or mailed to the SDSU Extension Regional Center in Sioux Falls.
