It's almost getting to be a habit, and it's good news for South Dakotans. Figures from the Centers for Disease Control show close to 60 percent of the state's residents were vaccinated against influenza last season.

The State Department of Health says South Dakota's rate of 57.4 was the highest in the nation.

Also, the Department says South Dakota ranked in the top 10 for every age group except one: children ages 6 months to 4 years.

State Epidemiologist Dr. Lon Kightlinger says "significant numbers of people" still aren't being vaccinated, despite the state's top ranking. He says providers in the state work hard every year on flu vaccination.

South Dakota had the highest immunization rate in 2013 for the second time in three years.
