I can't remember the last time I carried a pocketknife.

Oh, there was a time when I did, but I was much younger then, and I don't have much use for one now.

So when the TSA announced it would allow air passengers to carry small knives on board, it didn't strike me as something that would affect me much.

But I know there are people who might prefer to pack let's say a Swiss Army knife in their carry-on bags, and they're going to be affected if the change stands.

Flight attendants don't like the idea and I don't blame them, because the hijackers on 9/11 were packing box-cutters, and security was stepped up significantly in the aftermath.

So this will affect some folks, and maybe if Sharon and I fly somewhere, it will affect us.

But since we hardly ever fly, I'm going to let the TSA, the traveling public and the flight attendants work this one out.

But the fact remains: I'd rather put up with a little inconvenience if it means my flight will be safe.
