Sioux Falls’s Raven Industries Gets $6M Contract for Aerostats

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A Sioux Falls balloon maker has been awarded a $6 million Department of Defense contract for blimps known as aerostats.

Raven Industries' aerostats are tethered to the ground and can carry cameras more than 1,500 feet into the air.

Operators on the ground maneuver the cameras, which have 360-degree views and infrared capability.
