Here’s rundown of some news and interesting information to start your Friday morning.

Crime, Economy Up In Sioux Falls

The Huffington Post and 24/7 Wall Street mention Sioux Falls, but not necessarily in a good way.

They report that in some of the metro areas where violent crime rose the most, the economy has been especially strong.

They cite Bismarck, North Dakota, where the economy grew as a result of the oil boom. However, they also mention Columbus, Indiana, and Sioux Falls, which have also experienced strong growth in recent years. All three metro areas had unemployment rates far below the national rate of 7.5% in 2013.

Food Truck Regulations Coming?

The city of Sioux Falls plans to clarify proposed food truck regulations for downtown.

City officials are expected to discuss the regulations on today. 

New Days, Routes for Sioux Falls Running Event

People running the Sioux Falls 5K, half and full marathon this year will see some changes to the event, some big changes!

The plan now is to run the 5K on Saturday, September 12, before the President’s Bowl that day. The next day, September 13, 2015 runners will take their mark on an entirely different course for the Sioux Falls half and full marathons.

Native American Population Growth

The Black Hills Knowledge Network reports that children and youth are more likely than adults to be of American Indian descent in the Rapid City metropolitan area.
