SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A Minnehaha County jury says a Sioux Falls pediatrician was not responsible for the cognitive and physical disabilities that a 7-year-old boy suffers.

The Argus Leader reports that jurors reached a verdict Friday.

Dr. Stephen Nanton was accused by the boy's parents of overprescribing the drug Reglan when the boy was an infant. The drug is used to treat digestive disorders but has been linked to a neurological disorder.

The plaintiffs argued that Nanton was negligent in prescribing it to the boy when he was an infant. But the defense argued that Nanton did not deviate from the standard of care.
