Regents Approve 3 New Minor Degrees at USD

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — The state Board of Regents has given the University of South Dakota approval to offer three new minor degrees aimed at helping graduates prepare for careers in a wide range of fields.

The minors are in child and adolescent development, inter-professional disabilities services and teaching K-12 English as a new language.

Officials say the minor in child and adolescent development will give students skills that can could be particularly valuable in health or counseling fields

The minor in inter-professional disabilities services provides training in health sciences, medicine, education and arts and sciences for graduates who will work to help people with disabilities.

The minor in K-12 English as a new language will help teachers working with students who are just learning English.

The new minor degrees will use existing courses.
