SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota pharmacists say they're worried about recent robberies at drug stores.

The issue came up after a couple of recent incidents, including an armed robbery at a Sioux Falls pharmacy when a robber flashed a handgun after handing the pharmacist a note requesting prescription pills.

Sue Schaefer, executive director of the South Dakota Pharmacists Association, tells the Sioux Falls Argus Leader that robbers are "getting bolder" and more sophisticated about the drugs they want.

Earlier this year, a man was arrested for allegedly stealing $5,000 worth of prescription pills from a Sioux Falls retail store. Police think he waited inside the store until it closed before breaking into the pharmacy and making off with painkillers.

Schaefer's group plans to offer training to pharmacy staff about dealing with robberies.
