Rapid City’s 900 Block of Main Street Revitalized

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — The north side of the 900 block of Main Street in downtown Rapid City has a seedy past where a peep show, adult novelty shop and X-rated theater operated.

But now, one would never know it, due to a project undertaken by a man with a love of history and a knack for collecting local art.

The Rapid City Journal reports the block is a great example of urban revitalization, with a new facade, loft apartments with balconies over the sidewalk, and new businesses operating inside.

Patrick Roseland is the certified anesthetist at Rapid City Regional Hospital who bought the building in 2007.

He finished a complete remodel about three months ago, saying he wanted a place downtown for people to see the art he collects.
