RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — Rapid City police say a man who tried to rob another man who was sitting inside a pickup truck failed in the attempt when he was run over.

Authorities say the 24-year old suspect approached the pickup truck outside a motel Tuesday night, opened the driver's side door and demanded money. The driver refused to hand over any cash, put the vehicle in reverse and backed away.

Police spokeswoman Tarah Heupel tells the Rapid City Journal that the robber tried to hang onto the open door but fell, and a front tire ran over his legs. He was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and arrested on a robbery charge.
