Powerball Ticket Sold In South Dakota Worth $40,000

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Powerball ticket sold in Sioux Falls is worth $40,000 in Wednesday's drawing.

South Dakota lottery officials say the ticket matched four of five white ball numbers and the Powerball to win the game's third prize. Because the purchaser bought the Power Play option, the prize is multiplied to $40,000. The odds of winning it are one in about 649,000.

Powerball is played in most states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The jackpot sits at $40 million for the next drawing, which is on Saturday.
