Sioux Falls Police responded to a weapons violation call on Monday at 26th Street and Cliff Avenue.

"Upon arrival officers made contact with the victim who said he was driving down an alley which is a very narrow alley," Police Sgt. Paul Creviston told us.

"There wasn't a lot of space on either side. Another vehicle came from the opposite direction. They met head-on---didn't collide but it became a stalemate. Neither one of the drivers wanted to relinquish their spot and back up."

Creviston says that's when one of the drivers displayed a gun.

"According to the victim the other driver became visibly upset. It appeared the hand gestures were becoming more aggressive. The driver then reached down underneath the seat and produced a hand gun. He started waving the weapon at the reporting party."

A short time later, Creviston says the driver with the gun, identified as 72-year-old Robert Rist of Sioux Falls was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
