A new tax scam has surfaced in this country that has already cheated more than a thousand victims out of millions of dollars.

Criminals have figured out a way to use phone numbers that make it look like they're calling from the IRS.

How it works is the fake IRS guy tells the victim to load the money they owe on to a cash card.  As soon as the victim hands over the code - the money is gone.

Officials with the actual IRS say you'll never get a call like that from their office.

Should you ever get a suspicious call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, experts recommend you notify your local authorities, the Attorney General's Office or the Better Business Bureau.
