When you become a parent you expect certain things. You anticipate constant worry for about 18 years. You know along with all the joys of parenting, occasionally sorrow weaves itself into the tapestry. What you don't expect is that your child will come to harm at the hands of someone you trusted.

When Dreyton Oleson was four months old he sustained head and eye trauma at the daycare which was supposedly caring for him. He spent 11 days in a medically-induced coma in the Sanford Pediatric Intensive care unit and has spent many more days hospitalized. He is now home and takes medication for seizures as well as a regular schedule of physical therapy.

What are his prospects? The hope is that he will have no long-term debilitating issues, but again, when the brain is involved it is impossible to know for certain. What is known, is that the costs of hospitalization and treatment have been daunting. So in order to help, Dreyton's family and friends are holding a benefit fundraiser this Saturday, October 4th at the Safari Bar & Grill, (north on Cliff Avenue, right at Renner corner).
