Drunk and barefoot in the wrong house on an early Saturday morning is the combination for an arrest. Police were able to capture the man after a short chase.

A woman at a residence in the 1000 block of S. Sherman Avenue woke up to the sound of someone inside her house near her bedroom door. She eventually locked herself in the bathroom and called police at 2:24 AM to report the intruder.

Once police arrived at the home, spokesman Sam Clemens says an officer yelled through an open window to get his attention. “Our suspect took off running and almost ran into another officer who was coming from the other direction. They noticed he didn’t have any shoes on and officers noticed footprints of bare feet inside the house.”

Clemens also said 42 year-old Sammy Alegria had no connection to the victim other than he lived across the street. Nothing was taken and nothing was damaged. Alegria was charged with first-degree burglary and fleeing police.
