Miranda Lambert’s Tuesday night (July 28) show at 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville will help fund a scholarship for women pursuing jobs in the music and entertainment industry at Belmont University.

The Miranda Lambert Women Creators Fund will provide over $40,000 to a female at Belmont who is majoring in songwriting, entertainment industry studies or music business. The first scholarship will affect the 2016-17 school year.

“To encourage and empower women to achieve their goals is why I am supporting outstanding women who want to pursue their dreams in the music industry,” Lambert says in a press statement.

Tuesday night’s acoustic show at 3rd and Lindsley will preview Lambert’s upcoming tour. Scheduled openers include Clare Dunn, Courtney Cole and Natalie Hemby, all Belmont graduates.

Last November, Lambert told Taste of Country why she started actively championing up and coming women in country music. “I just really want to bring them to the forefront because I think we’re just missing something right now,” she says in the video below. “If I can have any part of them getting heard, I want to.”

RaeLynn, Ashley Monroe, Dunn and Cole will join Lambert on the Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars tour this fall. Tuesday night’s show will be Lambert’s first full show since her divorce from Blake Shelton on July 20.
