Man Sentenced to Serve 9 Years in 2014 Aberdeen Stabbing
ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — A man accused of stabbing a woman multiple times in Aberdeen in December 2014 has been sentenced to serve nine years in prison.
Twenty-three-year-old Jermal Lee initially faced an attempted murder charge. He pleaded guilty in March to lesser charges of aggravated assault and was sentenced Monday.
The American News reports that Lee also was accused of assaulting emergency medical technicians who tried to help him after he stabbed himself.
Defense attorney Scott Kuck said Lee was drunk the night of the incident and doesn't remember what happened.
Lee also was fined $258 and ordered to pay $2,765 in restitution for medical bills and $467 for victim's compensation. He will be eligible for parole in 4-1/2 years.
