SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Sioux Falls deer hunters will have an extra week this hunting season, but fewer licenses will be available.

The city started a bow hunting season four years ago to help reduce the animal population in the northeast part of town.

The Argus Leader reports the number of permits will be cut this year from 70 to 50, but hunters will have three weeks, instead of two.

The deadline to apply for a free permit is Wednesday.
