(AP) - Kenny Rogers will be on tour in October, but not in concert. He's going on a book tour to promote his autobiography, "Luck or Something Like It."

This is the first personal memoir from Rogers who opens up about his rough childhood living in the projects of Houston and growing up in poverty. He shares how his father's alcoholism helped him to avoid substance abuse and how he struggled to make his first four marriages work.

There are also happy highlights, including stories about his diverse musical partnerships and projects with artists including Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie. The book goes on sale October 2.

The Gambler will be in concert with his "Christmas and Hits" Showin Sioux Falls November 25th, 7pm at the Washington Pavilion.  Tickets are on sale now.
