ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — A judge has set bond at $250,000 for a South Dakota man charged with rape.

Magistrate Judge Mark Anderson on Monday set the cash-only bond for 26-year-old Christopher Sanderson. The Frederick man is also charged with impaired driving, reckless driving and possession of an open container.

The Aberdeen American News reports the charges stem from incidents that authorities say happened Saturday.

Brown County's deputy state's attorney Wanette Lenling said Sanderson was "caught in the act" involving an 11-year-old victim, fled the scene and was later found in his vehicle.

Sanderson told the judge he is not a threat to "anyone or anything" and asked for a personal recognizance bond, which was denied.

It wasn't immediately clear if Sanderson has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
