I know, I know, gee, the NFL season is here and that's great.

I know, I know, college football is here and that's great.

But for us purists (or as some call us, old fogies) this time of year means one thing...

The World Series!

This year, of course, it's Boston and St. Louis, two of the most storied franchises of any sport.  Williams and Musial.  The curse of the Bambino.  The Ozzie flip.

For me, an avowed Minnesota Twins fans, it first brings back memories of 1965, and the names Koufax, Drysdale and Osteen still haunt me.

Then of course, '87 and the 7-game win over those St. Louis Cardinals and our first title.

Then, the epic '91 series against Atlanta.  It was epic, wasn't it?

And, of course, 'The catch'.  That's all....'The Catch'.  Let's watch Kirby do it again.

R.I.P. Kirby.  I have to be truthful and say Harmon was my favorite Twin and always will be.  But....

Kirby was my Mom's favorite.  And that ain't bad.
