David Frizzell is back with a new rendition of his chart-topping classic, You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma, and he's added a one-of-a-kind voice to sing alongside him, Mary Sarah.

We were lucky enough to have Mary and David join us on Andy and Christine in the Morning this week to talk about their contemporary version of a classic that hit number one on the country charts 40 years ago.

Back in 1981, David Frizzell, along with Shelly West had one of the biggest country hits of the decade with the song, which has lived on throughout the generations, including with Mary Sarah. Mary mentions in the interview how honored she was to record this new rendition of You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma, and how surreal it is that she's helping craft a new legacy for a song she grew up singing with her dad as a little girl.

David Frizzell has been one of country music's most enduring artists, having a career that has stood the test of time.

Mary Sarah is an Oklahoma native (fitting, right?) and has been wowing audiences for a number of years with her unique voice that has a nostalgic country sound, with a modern twist. You may remember her from her stint on the voice in 2016. She also graced the stage of the legendary Grand Ole Opry and has released a number of singles as a solo artist.

You can hear the full interview with David Frizzell and Mary Sarah above and in the video below is a live performance from the duo, along with their band.
