PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A former South Dakota county prosecutor accused of child rape has pleaded guilty to federal charges.

Thirty-five-year-old Christopher Jansen, of Selby, was accused of child rape in Hughes County involving three boys ages 5 through 13, and having child pornography on his computer.

The former Walworth County state's attorney was indicted in state and federal courts last year. He pleaded guilty to state rape charges in July and was sentenced in September to 50 years in prison.

The American News reports that he pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal charges of sexually exploiting a child and distributing child porn. He could face up to 50 years in prison.

Jansen was the state's attorney in Walworth County from 2009 through 2012. He also did court-appointed legal work in Brown County.
