When things get a little too hectic, in a general sense it is advantageous to strip out the complexity and get back to basics. Simply put, step away from chaos and toward the calm.

This sentiment was spurred by a simple question: Why is there so much hate? Now that the box is open, let’s see what is inside the package.

“Maybe it’s time we got back to the basics of love,”

Those words that come from the lyrics of a song written by Chips Moman and Buddy Emmons and sung by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson entitled “Luckenbach, Texas”.

Love and hate are strong, active words that describe feelings toward people and objects among other things. If one is present, the other is not far behind. Most people who love the New York Yankees, hate the Boston Red Sox and the opposite is true.

“This successful life we’re living has got us feuding like the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s.”

It’s a real-world snapshot of life that tells us if other things like money, possessions or fame get in the way of loving people that’s when the discord arrives. Are we loving the wrong things and letting that come between family members, friends, or strangers?

A good answer is definitely elusive. I’ll join with anyone who will honestly join the search party. Though in the case of proper grammar, please forgive me for using the lyric's triple negative in the title.
