Even though chasing the dream of music isn't the first choice for this 20-year old from Tea, South Dakota, Dillan Schmiedt has the potential to become a star.

Instead, Schmiedt can be found on the campus of Minnesota State University Moorhead in Moorhead, Minnesota studying Film and Marketing. With the dream of someday being a director/producer or even owning his own ad agency that would create content for websites or commercials, Schmiedt is as comfortable in front of the camera as behind it.

This 2014 graduate of Tea Area High School has been singing and involved in music just about his whole life. Having taken guitar lessons for only one summer, his mom credits his ability to play the guitar from modern day technology. Melissa Schmiedt says,

Dillan took lessons for a summer when he was a seventh grader. The rest was self-taught. Lots of YouTube videos!

Covering a song by Jason Mraz called "Beautiful Mess", Schmiedt is actually the subject for another classmate's school project. Filmed in one of the oldest buildings on MSU's campus to help get the great accoustics, mom Melissa was surprised to see the video uploaded to YouTube.

It's so much fun to just see and hear him singing again. I was surprised to see the video. Having him grow up and move off to college, I miss hearing that voice.
