PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The deadline to apply online for some deer hunting licenses in South Dakota has been extended.

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department says the new deadline to submit an online application for the East River, Muzzleloader and Refuge Deer hunting seasons is 8 a.m. CDT Wednesday.

Shon Eide is the department's licensing supervisor. He says hunters are used to being able to apply for those seasons through Labor Day weekend and many of them do so at the department's booth during the South Dakota State Fair in Huron.

The previous deadline was set for Sept. 2.
