Dangerous Sioux Falls Intersection at 26th Street, Edna Avenue Being Studied

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Traffic engineers and police are studying a Sioux Falls intersection just west of Interstate 29 where two people died in a crash last week.

The Argus Leader reports that the study actually began a week before Friday's fatal crash. The area around the intersection has been the site of more than 100 vehicle crashes over the past decade, including another fatal crash in March 2012.

The intersection has no traffic signals. Principal Traffic Engineer Health Hoftiezer says it's unlikely they'll be added because of the impact on traffic flow. He says the installation of a median or a lowering of the speed limit might help.
