(AP) - She wasn't even the proverbial glint in her parent's eyes back in the 1960s. But Carrie Underwood will help give people watching the Emmys a history lesson on one of the most significant decades in American history.

She will take part in a tribute to TV's role in key 1960's events. Underwood will do a medley of 60s music - while actor Don Cheadle will host a segment on TVs coverage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. Underwood was born nearly 20 years after JFK was gunned down on a Dallas street.

The Emmys are Sunday night on CBS.
