A busy intersection in northern Sioux Falls will be closed for a time, and motorists are being warned that they will need to find another route.

The State Department of Transportation says the Interstate 90 and Cliff Avenue interchange will be closed Monday, July 29, at 7pm and will stay closed until 6am the next day.

The DOT says the same intersection will be closed Tuesday evening at 7 until 6am Wednesday (July 31).

The interchange is being closed so the contractor, T & R Contracting, can remove the existing eastbound I-90 structure over Cliff Avenue.

The DOT says the interchange ramps will remain open to traffic, but Cliff Avenue will be closed to thru traffic at the I-90 overpass bridge, so motorists will have to find an alternate route.

The work is part of an overall $17.4 million dollar project at the I-90/Cliff Avenue interchange, which has an interim completion date of November 8.
