The state Agriculture Department has scheduled the fifth annual South Dakota Governor's Agricultural Summit for June 26-27 at the Lodge in Deadwood.

Agriculture Secretary Lucas Lentsch says the event is an opportunity for farmers, ranchers, ag industry leaders, legislators and congressional delegates to gather and discuss the future of the state's top industry.

It employs more than 122,000 people and generates nearly $21 billion in economic activity annually.

Lentsch, Governor Dennis Daugaard and U.S. Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Michael Scuse are scheduled speakers.

The event is free and open to the public but pre-registration is required. Online registration will be accepted through Monday, June 9.
